Save Alchemist

A Dead Cells save file converter

This should work from any source platform to any destination platform. You will be sent back to the Prisoners’ Quarters (some of the run data is not compatible between platforms), but your overall progress/unlocks will be kept.

This tool requires two files to work:

*preferably an empty save file, since it’s going to be overwritten: pick an empty save slot, start a run, and quit once you’ve possessed the body.

Re-download converted save file

Based on N3rdL0rd’s savetool. See the Save Files page on ModDocCE for more details.

How to access save files

Save files are named user_X.dat, with X being a number between 0 and 6 corresponding to the save slot in game.

Android

According to the internet, the save files are in /data/data/com.playdigious.deadcells.mobile/files/save (not the Android/data folder, the root data folder) for the normal Play version; accessing this folder requires a rooted phone. No idea about the Netflix version.

Instructions to extract an iOS Dead Cells save file, by Demianeen

Original comment; this only allows extracting a save file without jailbreak (if you want to convert from iOS to another platform). I cannot test this, and I cannot give my endorsement of the software used: it’s up to you to research and decide.

  1. Download iMazing. The free version is enough for this process.
  2. Open iMazing and connect your iPhone with a cable. Unlock your device and tap Trust if prompted.
  3. Find the Apps section, and click Manage Apps.
  4. Find the Dead Cells entry. From the context menu, use the option Back Up App Data or Extract. If asked, select Only App Data. Wait for the process to finish (it may take a few minutes).
  5. iMazing will create a file called Dead Cells.imazingapp. This is actually a ZIP file.
  6. Rename Dead Cells.imazingapp to Dead Cells.zip. Extract it with Finder/Explorer or any unzip tool. Inside, navigate to Container/Documents/save/.
